Driving and Parking at Stansted Airport
London Stansted Airport is located a short distance from the M11 motorway. It is clearly signposted on major roads within the broad surrounding region of the airport and is easily reached. If travelling from London, the easiest route is to leave the M11 at Junction 8a and if travelling from Cambridge, use Junction 8 and follow the signs. The M11 connects to the M25 London Orbital Motorway from Junction 27 and the journey from central London can take anywhere between 55 and 80 minutes depending on traffic and specific London location. The History of Stansted Airport
Stansted Airport began life as a military airfield, being constructed by the RAF in 1942/1943 at the height of the Second World War. Officially the name of the airfield was Stansted Mountfitchet but both the RAF and its USAAF allies simply referred to it as Stansted, an abbreviation which stands to this day.

Car Hire Desks at Stansted Airport
Stansted Airport, the third busiest airport in the United Kingdom, is well served for car rentals. Each of the car hire companies present on terminal has a desk that is located next to the entrance to the airport terminal. There are five car hire desks at Stansted, one for each company, and a sixth undergoing refurbishment at the time of writing.
Runway Expansion Plans Delayed
A decision on the proposal to increase the passenger limit at Stansted Airport from 25m to 35m passengers annually as been delayed by ministers. MPs were due to make a decision on the increases last week before parliament begins its annual summer break but the DfT has said the decision will be postponed until the Autumn of 2008.
